The Scripps Research Institue

The Scripps Research Institute (TSRI) is one of the largest privately held non-profit, biomedical research organizations in the world.
Since 1985 TSRI has been utilizing NEC switches for their communication needs. Realizing that the NEC 2400 platform was reaching its end of life for support, they need to begin planning for the future. Ultimately, TSRI choose to go with the NEC Cable Migration, which allowed them to replace their existing ISW switch and the associated local processors while keeping all the other existing equipment in play.
In August 2010, TSRI and Digital Telecommunications Corp, began planning for the NEC Cable Migration. On January 14th, 2011, the cut over took place. Within 3 hours the SV8500 was up and running.
Proof that with planning and preparation the NEC Cable Migration isn’t as scary as it sounds.
Randy Rosa, Telecommunications Manager, talks about the experience with DTC.
